In 2004, Pool People USA developed a website to teach children about pool safety in a fun, engaging way. Splash Zone USA features the animated fish, Sonny, who talks to children about pool safety rules and the importance of protection from ultraviolet rays. The site incorporates games, songs, trivia, and even a printable coloring book.

The site has garnered links on children’s Web portals such as Yahoo! Kids, and has been promoted to customers through pool builders, retailers, and manufacturers, as well as safety officials across the country. In the fall of 2004, Splash Zone representatives attended the National Safe Kids Conference.

Another element of the Splash Zone campaign is a professionally created and printed coloring book that addresses rules for safety around pools and hot tubs. The book is available free to APSP members and recognized nonprofit organizations by request, and is also distributed through events promoting Splash Zone USA.
