Why an APSP Member?

Why You Should Buy from an APSP Member

When it's time to purchase, service, or upgrade your pool, spa, or hot tub, you should buy from an APSP member. Why, and what does this mean for you? It means that you will receive the very best the industry has to offer when you work with an APSP member. You can be confident that your pool, spa, or hot tub investment will be built or serviced by a professional who stays on top of current technology and the latest information available in the industry today.

It is easy to find an APSP member. Just use the APSP Member Locator at the top of this page by typing in your zip code. A list of all current APSP members and their contact information and websites will appear for your review. In addition, you will note several certifications in the listings. APSP offers education and certification for builders, retailers, and service technicians to keep them on the cutting edge of the industry so they can serve you even better. Following is a summary of the types of certifications that APSP offers its members:

CBP Certified Building Professional®

The APSP CBP Certified Building Professional® Program enhances the professional identity of the APSP builder member through an emphasis on high ethical standards, commitment to the highest standards of workmanship and construction, business stability, and superior customer relations. To earn this certification, APSP members must successfully complete a standardized written examination that measures and verifies their knowledge of residential pool and spa construction. They must also complete continuing education requirements on an ongoing basis in order to maintain their certification.

CSP Certified Service Professional®

APSP offers technical training in pool and spa service. This three-level program (TECH I, TECH II, and CSP) provides practical knowledge for technicians, from structures and electrical systems, to hydraulics, pumps, and filters, to water chemistry and maintenance. APSP members who successfully complete all three levels are granted the program's highest credential—CSP Certified Service Professional®. They must also complete continuing education requirements on an ongoing basis in order to maintain their certification.

CRSA Certified Retail Sales Associate

The Certified Retail Sales Associate (CRSA) program is intended for training retail employees to increase their knowledge about customer service skills, consultative sales techniques, and basic technical information. If you're looking for a pool, spa, or hot tub retailer, consider working with an APSP member. And if you're working with a member who holds the Certified Retail Sales Associate credential, you can be confident that person has successfully completed a standardized written examination, demonstrating a higher level of technical knowledge.
