APSP Region 9 Exhibits at the Eastern States Building Officials Federation
Walter Perry, Region 9 Regional Service Center Manager, manned an APSP booth at the Eastern States Building Officials Federation 59th Annual Educational Conference, from April 6-9 in Sturbridge, MA. APSP Region 9, through its chapter, the Swimming Pool Association of New England, gave key information and tools to building code officials, to help them become more knowledgeable about standards for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of public and private pools and spas.
The information included copies of a CD containing all current ANSI/APSP standards, the APSP Builders Manual, the APSP Service Manual, and updated news on the federal Pool and Spa Safety Act.
The APSP exhibit complemented information offered by the International Code Council (ICC). For example, the ICC’s Building Safety Journal featured an article, “Entrapment Prevention in Pools and Spas,” by Shajee Siddiqui, director of Product Safety and Compliance for Jandy Pool Products. In addition, the ICC was promoting its Building Safety Week, to be held from May 5-11, 2008. A new component in the ICC promotional material is Pool, Spa and Hot Tub Safety.
The ICC chapters in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Rhode Island support the Eastern States Building Officials Federation. For more information, please contact Walter Perry at wperry@apspregion9.org or visit www.apspregion9.org.
