Elite Industry Professionals Honored at 2007 International Awards of Excellence Banquet

150 recipients of the APSP International Awards of Excellence were announced at a banquet at the International Pool & Spa Expo in Orlando, Florida, November 29, 2007. These prestigious annual awards are presented in more than 40 categories, recognizing the most beautiful, creative, and technologically advanced installations of pools, spas, hot tubs and water features across the United States and around the world. Judges consider application of trends in construction and advanced technology (vanishing edges, new materials, etc.) as well as superior workmanship and original design.

For the third consecutive year, Chairman’s Awards were presented to top award recipients in three categories—residential pools, commercial pools, and residential water features. “The purpose of the Chairman’s Award is to recognize those individuals who have reached the pinnacle of accomplishment in the pool, spa and hot tub industry,” said APSP President and CEO Bill Weber.

The Chairman’s Award for residential swimming pools was given to Aqua Pools of Ripon, California, for a Roman-style pool accented with an all-tile deck. The pool features an original gold and marbleized crystal mosaic in its floor center, a true crown jewel to this masterpiece. Piscinas Acuarium of San Jose, Costa Rica, received the Chairman’s Award in the commercial pool category for its Punta Islita installation. The construction team had to hand-carry materials for long distances over rough terrain to create a concrete pool that is a stunning blend of geometry and nature. Aquascape of Petaluma, California, received the Chairman’s Award in the residential water feature category for a dramatic reflecting pool that seems to merge with the stone and glass of a modern house. The builder also created a vanishing edge illusion and stepping stones that appear to float on the water.

18 Merit, 31 Bronze, 38 Silver, and 57 Gold Awards were presented.
