First Ever CBP of the Year Award Presented to Albert Rizzo
The Builders Council of the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP) presented its first “CBP of the Year” Award to Albert Rizzo, CBP Certified Building Professional®, of Rizzo Pool Company, Newington, Connecticut. The award was presented at the CBP Recognition Dinner held Tuesday, November 27, 2007, in conjunction with the International Pool & Spa Expo in Orlando, Florida.
The CBP of the Year Award is the APSP Builders Council's most prestigious award. It is considered to be a lifetime achievement award and is presented to a pool builder who has earned the CBP Certified Building Professional® designation, the highest certification awarded to APSP members, and whose accomplishments over a lifetime have made a major contribution to the pool industry profession.
Nominees from across the United States were judged in multiple categories, including: achievements to advance the pool industry profession; compliance with industry standards in pool and spa design and construction; years of service with APSP; receipt of other awards and recognition for pool building accomplishments; educational endeavors for APSP; service to other professional and business organizations; involvement in government relations to advance the pool industry; involvement in community service activities; and other achievements of exemplary service.
“After a very in-depth nomination and judging process, the award is being presented to Al Rizzo,” notes Joe Vassallo, CBP, the Chairman of the Builders Council Honors and Awards Committee. “Al has a long lineage with the industry, he was one of the founding fathers of the CBP program as well as educational programs established by the APSP, and is therefore well deserving of this accolade, the inaugural CBP of the Year Award.”
The 2007 CBP of the Year Award was donated by Structure Studios, a firm specializing in 3-D computer design for the pool and spa industry.
At the CBP Recognition Dinner, the Builders Council also honored the growing number of CBP Certified Building Professionals® within the pool, spa, and hot tub industry. The dinner was sponsored by Jandy Pool Products. Keynote speaker for the evening was Vance Gillette, Executive Vice President of Jandy Pool Products.
The CBP Certified Building Professional® certification program enhances the professional identity of the APSP builder member through an emphasis on high ethical standards, commitment to the highest standards of workmanship and construction, business stability, and superior customer relations.
