A recent report by the Office of Advocacy of the U.S. Small Business Administration states that small businesses continued to lead development in the U.S. economy in 2006. The economy and financial markets were highly supportive of small business growth in 2006, feeling that the 26.8 million small businesses in the United States play a vital role in the economic well-being of the nation. Furthermore, it is estimated that the economic impact of the pool and spa industry as a whole has reached approximately $30 billion, combining all residential and commercial estimates, as well as aftermarket. Recommends Water-based Exercise for the Overweight
Millions of people are starting 2008 with a resolution to lose weight. Sadly, many will give up by the end of February. New studies show that discomfort and discouragement, rather than a lack of motivation, may make people give up on exercise. A recent New York Times article cites the discomfort obese people experience when exercising on land, due to excess body fat. The added friction can alter one’s gait and make overweight exercisers more prone to injuries and joint problems, such as those related to arthritis. The article suggests water-based exercise as a better alternative, aligning with the APSP message of water therapy as a component to better physical and mental health.
