APSP to meet with the CEC on the energy efficiency of spas sold in CA
The APSP Spa/CEC Advisory Group will meet with the California Energy Commission (CEC) on July 13 in San Francisco. The meeting will focus on the spa formula in the Title 20 rulemaking concerning energy efficiency standards for portable electrical spas that are intended to be sold in CA. Contact Carvin DiGiovanni for more information.
The spa energy efficiency decisions in California have strong implications for all 50 states. There is legislation pending in several other states now, including Texas, New Jersey, Oregon, and Michigan, to adopt the CEC Title 20 regulations for pool pumps, motors, and portable electric spas.
In Florida, HB 7123 (state energy bill) passed the legislature in May and is now awaiting the Governor’s signature. Section 43 of the bill requires the FL Department of Community Affairs to form a workgroup to look into the energy efficiency of certain items, including pools spas, heaters, pumps, and motors. The workgroup must report to the FL legislature by March 2008 on its findings. |
