Highlights from the Southwest Pool & Spa Show
The Southwest Pool & Spa Show was held March 5-8 at the Georgia R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. A record number of industry professionals attended, visiting over 100 exhibits, many from first-time exhibitors. The major show sponsors were Pentair Water, APSP Region 3, and IPSSA Houston. In conjunction with the show, the APSP Greater Houston chapter hosted the Regional Golf Tournament held at the Wildcat Golf Club.

Tom Odeski, owner of Pool Cover Resource in Dallas, Texas, and an APSP member since 1982, was honored with the APSP Region 3 Volunteer of the Year award, while special recognition for an APSP staff member was awarded to Pam Vinje, Region 3 Regional Service Manager. Tom Odeski has shown exemplary industry leadership on a regional level as the Region 3 Government Relations Advocacy chairman; on a state level, as the Texas Pool Builder Licensing Symposia creator and organizer; and on a local level as the North Texas chapter president. In addition to his many APSP volunteer efforts, Tom also serves as secretary to APEC (Aquatic Professionals Education Council) and chairs the Legislative Initiative committee. The APSP North Texas Chapter produced the gala awards celebration, honoring the region’s top designs for pools, spas, and hot tubs. The Best of Show award was presented to Da Vida Pools LLC. Overall, there were 22 gold award recipients, 21 silver award recipients, 19 bronze award recipients and 20 merit award recipients.
