APSP-8 Model Barrier Code Is Up for Revision
APSP has open positions on the APSP-8 Model Barrier Code for Residential Swimming Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs Writing Committee to revise the ANSI/APSP 2005 standard. We welcome dedicated volunteers to participate in the revision process.

Portions of this standard are in the Appendix of the International Residential Code (IRC) and have been adopted by many local jurisdictions. The objective of these requirements is to establish provisions that address supervision, the foremost deterrent to child drowning, both when a pool, spa or hot tub is in use, and when it is not.

Serve your association and your industry by volunteering to become a voting member of the Model Barrier Code Writing Committee. A copy of the standard will be available for your review along with the APSP Committee Operating Guidelines.

Please contact Bernice Crenshaw to request a “Willingness to Serve Form” for your participation. Sign up today and make a positive impact on your industry!
