APSP to Publish Quarterly Magazine
APSP is committed to giving members the information and industry trends needed to help your business succeed. Beginning November 2007, APSP will provide our members with a top-quality publication focusing on the thought leaders who shape our industry. Consistent with APSP’s mission and strategic plan, APSP Quarterly (AQ)will be a source of industry insights and trends, drive new membership to the organization, and serve as a key benefit of membership. We have partnered with publisher Naylor, LLC, to leverage the company’s 38 years of experience with trade organization publications.

We are excited that the premiere issue of AQ is currently open for sales. A representative from Naylor will be contacting members regarding this unique advertising opportunity. For more information on advertising, please contact Jason White at 770.810.6970 or jawhite@naylor.com. You can also access our online media kit at www.naylornetwork.com/WebKits/PDFs/aps-q.pdf.

Aqua Quip Promotes Safety with Water Watcher Tags
This summer, retailer Aqua Quip in Seattle distributed Water Watcher tags, modeled on the successful IPSSA program, to the general public. Aqua Quip purchased PSAs on their local radio stations and encouraged people to come into their stores and pick up the colorful tags and other safety materials. Every employee in the Aqua Quip stores wore a Water Watcher tag all summer long to help get the message out to the customers. “It is not just about pool safety; it is about water safety,” comments Kathleen Carlson of the APSP Retailers Council. See the tag here.

IC Lite: Swimming in Syrup
Who says swimming is just something to do in water? Many readers may recall an article in the January 17, 2005 Pool & Spa News about a research study done at the University of Minnesota to answer the question: Will humans swim faster or slower in syrup? OK, so there was more to this study, but how can you pass up an article with the quote, “It looked like clear mucus, the kind you get when you have a cold. It felt slimy, very different. I don’t know how exactly to describe it, except that you knew you weren’t in water.”
