Check out These Seminars and More at the Nov. 28-30 Expo in Orlando

Reward yourself by attending the comprehensive educational conference at the 2007 International Pool & Spa Expo! Specifically geared toward those involved in the development, management, and direction of the residential and commercial pool and spa industry, this conference provides you with the forum to network with peers and industry experts. Among the many seminars to choose from, there are three topics that you might want to consider: pools and energy efficiency, manufacturers' agents and augmenting sales strategies, and state legislatures and contractor boards.

Energy Efficiency and Swimming Pools
Energy efficiency is a topic of growing importance, and you can learn more about it at the 2007 International Pool & Spa Expo at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando. Gary Fernstrom of Pacific Gas & Electric is putting on an energy seminar on Wednesday, November 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. (Session Number WE-22, Room S-330-G/H). The seminar is titled “Using Energy Efficiency to Make Pools Crystal Clear and Low Cost to Own.”

Manufacturers Benefit from Augmenting Sales Strategies
Manufacturers interested in exploring outsourced sales solutions will want to consider attending a seminar titled “The Value of Manufacturer’s Reps.” This presentation will feature Steve Swirsky, President of Waterlines, Inc., who will discuss how the business has become more professional than ever—and why manufacturers’ agents can often sell more than direct salespeople. He will also explain why manufacturers’ agents often cost less than a traditional sales force, and the 12 advantages of using an agent network. Manufacturers looking to augment their current sales strategy or launch new products in the industry need to attend this seminar on Thursday, November 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. (Session Number TH-01, Room S-330-G/H).

How to Influence State Legislatures and Contractor Boards
If you're concerned about the impact that state laws can have on your business, consider attending
“Politics and Pools: Keeping the Waters Calm When It Comes to Legislation.” This seminar is on Thursday, November 29 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. (Session Number TH-03, Room S-230-G/H). Joe Vassallo, CBP Certified Building Professional® and President of Paragon Pools, will lead a panel discussion featuring a representative from a state contractor board, a lobbyist, prominent pool builders who have experience in helping get state legislation written and passed, representatives from the APSP Builders Council, and a legislative representative from a state legislature. Find out the value of being involved in the legislative process, the purpose of state contractor boards, and how to work with a lobbyist to communicate effectively with your politicians.
