APSP Exhibits at APHA Show

APSP staffed a booth at the American Public Health Association’s (APHA) 135th Annual Meeting and Expo, held November 4-7 at the Washington, D.C., Convention Center. APSP staff Carvin DiGiovanni and Jeanette Smith talked to APHA attendees about safety messaging, outreach to public health officials, and ANSI/APSP pool and spa design and safety standards.

Attendees who stopped at the APSP booth picked up copies of APSP’s new digital newsletter for public health officials and consumer safety brochures, reviewed the ANSI/APSP standards, and asked questions about pool and spa usage, including recreational water illness (RWI) outbreaks and APSP recommendations on how to limit bathers’ exposure to it, pool and spa maintenance, recommendations for spa usage and limits for hot water exposure, and water treatment.

The APHA is based in Washington, D.C., and its annual meeting and exposition is the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world, attracting more than 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists. APHA's meeting program addresses current and emerging health science, policy, and practice issues in an effort to prevent disease and promote health.
