Pool Industry Expo (PIE) This Week in Monterey
The Pool Industry Expo (PIE) will be held September 27-29 at the Monterey Conference Center in Monterey, California. APSP will be one of 90 PIE exhibitors (Booth # 933) greeting attendees–expected to number 500 or more. PIE attendees can meet industry experts, see demonstrations of the latest pool and spa products and services, and attend a wide variety of educational sessions on everything from Water Chemistry to wi-fi, and from digital automation to “How to Make a Million Dollars Servicing Pools.” For more information, visit www.poolindustryexpo.com.
Hot Tub Industry Unites!
During last week’s meeting in San Diego, leaders from the top hot tub manufacturers and suppliers took the first step toward being “an industry” as opposed to “a collection of individual companies,” according to meeting facilitator Eric Richardson of Growth Development Associates. Many companies came forward to pledge their support in terms of time and money to ensure the hot tub growth initiative moves forward. In the coming weeks, the Strategic Planning Committee of the APSP Hot Tub Council will actively solicit the remaining startup funding required. For more details of the meeting, contact Lauren Stack.
New Issue of Public Health Newsletter Addresses Spa Issues
The second issue of Recreational Water Quality, APSP’s new digital newsletter for public health officials, focuses on spas, with articles on recreational water illnesses and testing. The newsletter is produced by APSP’s Recreational Water Quality Committee. Learn more about why the design of spas leads to a pattern of recreational water illnesses that is distinct from that of pools.

Pools Plus Sponsors Alzheimer’s Walk
Member Pools Plus is helping sponsor the Alzheimer’s Association Memory Walk, to be held September 29 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. The company set a goal to raise $2,500 to help find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, which affects an estimated 5 million Americans, with 360,000 newly diagnosed each year.
