Credit Hours: 4 CEU’s

Many companies are realizing that the traditional project management principles are no longer applicable in today’s extremely dynamic and demanding environment. A fixed approach of planning is no longer a good method since it is very difficult to anticipate everything in advance and respond to it in the plan. Instead, more agile planning methods are required to accommodate for changing markets, technology and resources over the course of a typical project.

As a result, new project managers must be systematically thought on best practices and established management techniques. In this course, participants will understand the role of project manager as a broker of information. The emphasis here is on the day-to-day running of a project as opposed to leading a team using emotional skills.

Participants will learn how to manage time, resources, cost, risk and quality.

Management Skills

Cost: $99.00
Credit Hours: 4 CEU’s
Includes Lunch and Cocktail Hour

The three key topics explored are supervisory skills, conflict management, and difficult conversations.
Supervisory skills: gain confidence in supervising others by knowing what areas they need to consider when leading people. Through various case studies, examples, and scenarios, you will learn what works and what doesn’t when managing people.. Participant will explore several established frameworks of management which gives structure to any supervisory role. These include guidelines to motivate the team, carrying out performance analysis, avoiding and resolving team-supervisor conflicts, problem solving and a variety of intervention methods.

Conflict Management: This section will assist you in understanding and implementing strategies that will help to manage conflict effectively. You identify the sources of conflict, develop skills to assess a conflict situation and monitor your reaction to the conflict, utilize effective communication techniques to manage conflict in a proactive manner and resolve conflict by determining and implementing the best solution.

Difficult Conversations: Sometimes we find ourselves in an unpleasant conversation. Most people have a strong urge to avoid such conversations but they are critical to master for a manager. Sometimes we go through an interaction that leaves us angry or upset. Sometimes we react based on our emotions, which can have drastic consequences. We need to find out what makes us feel in a certain way and if this feeling is justified. Next we need to take steps to correct our feelings in order to adjust our behavior. There are several techniques presented in this course.
